Children’s Liturgy

Our church has a children’s liturgy group. We hold sessions every Sunday in term time during the 11am mass. Children start in mass and are then invited by the priest to follow the children’s liturgy leader into the meeting room after the opening prayer. They are then brought back into the church after the homily.

Children’s liturgy is a short session in which children who have not yet made their First Holy Communion (usually school Yr.3 and below) come together to share prayers and activities which are based on an age appropriate explanation of each week’s gospel. Parents are free to stay if their child is unsettled, but may also leave them if they are happy to do so. There are always two helpers at each session, and all helpers are DBS cleared.

Children will always have an opportunity to do some colouring, and the priest and congregation take great delight in seeing their work and hearing about what they have learned when they rejoin the congregation after their session is finished.

Want to get involved in helping? Please contact Nicola Davis. All volunteers will need to be DBS checked (we will organise this for you) and you will be given all the resources and training you need. It really is a rewarding role.
